POLICIES
1. Marriage is an institution initiated by God. Marriage is the joining of one man and one woman. Marriage is also a legal status conferred on couples by the state. Weddings are the Church’s way of celebrating and initiating marriage.
2. All weddings conducted at Willapa UMC will be conducted in accordance with Christian tradition, and the laws and regulations of the United Methodist Church and the State of Washington.
3. All weddings at the Willapa UMC will be performed by the appointed Pastor, or by a Pastor approved by the Pastor of the Willapa UMC. All marital counseling for weddings performed in this church will be provided by the appointed Pastor.
4. Willapa UMC is served by a Wedding Coordinator. All weddings will be supervised and coordinated by the Pastor and the Wedding Coordinator working as a team. Use of the church’s Wedding Coordinator is mandatory for couples desiring to get married in this church.

PROCEDURES
1. Couples intending to marry at the Willapa UMC should contact the Pastor at least six months in advance of the proposed wedding date. The Pastor will meet with the couple several times to evaluate their readiness for marriage and to provide marital counseling.
2. Shortly after the initial meeting with the Pastor, couples should make an appointment to meet with the Willapa UMC Wedding Coordinator.
