Ministries

Our ministries at Willapa United Methodist Church are structured around the five purposes for living in The Purpose Driven® Life by Rick Warren.  We believe that this arrangement is comprehensive and flexible, enabling us to invest our time, talents, gifts and energy where God is leading us as a Christian faith community and church family.

Evangelism/Discipleship

The Evangelism/DiscipleshipTeam is responsible for coordinating and implementing the church’s efforts to make all church participants better disciples of Christ through Christian education and spiritual formation.  In addition, this team coordinates and implements church evangelism efforts aimed at making new disciples of Christ by inviting and encouraging members of the community at large to become active church members and participants.

Fellowship

The Fellowship Team is responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing activities that are fun, and that bring participants together for the benefit of the church and the community at large.  Fellowship following worship, church athletic teams, supper groups, game and movie nights, picnics and potlucks, and fine arts events, are the kinds of activities sponsored by this team.

Ministry and Membership

The Ministry/Membership Team is responsible for the care of members and participants within the Body of the church.  Activities planned, coordinated, and implemented by this team include: collecting and recording prayer requests, managing the “Prayer Chain”, coordinating visitation of shut-ins and arranging for transportation to worship services and other church activities, maintaining accurate membership lists and mailing lists, and maintaining contact with members and participants through a network of “shepherds”.

Missions Team

The Missions Team is responsible for planning and coordinating the local, multi-cultural, national, and international outreach efforts and activities of the church.  Activities such as food bank support, Habitat for Humanity, Crop Walk, support for mental and physical health charities and organizations, support for United Methodist missionaries in foreign countries, and support for the ministries of the United Methodist Committee on Relief come under the purview of this team.

Worship Team

The Worship Team is responsible for planning and coordinating all aspects of worship by the church community including: the sacraments of Holy Communion and Baptism; liturgical arts such as banners, seasonal decorations, and altar paraments; worship music; production of worship bulletins and programs; liturgists and acolytes; and special seasonal services on Christmas Eve, Christmas, Epiphany, Pentecost, Ash Wednesday, Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter, and other Christian holidays and festivals.
