In addition to being a great mother and grandmother, Sue Norman is a medical professional. She has been a licensed cosmetologist, a registered nursing assistant, and a medical office manager and bookkeeper. Sue is also a gourmet cook and an avid gardener.
Pastor Stan graduated from the U. S. Coast Guard Academy in 1971 with a Bachelor of Science Degree and a Commission as Ensign in the Coast Guard. During his 22-year Coast Guard career, he served in five ships, commanding two: a seagoing buoy tender and an icebreaker. He retired as a Commander in 1993, and began a 12 year “second career” with the Washington State Department of Ecology, where he served as the state’s Oil Spill Prevention Manager. In 2000, with both boys through high school, Sue and Stan decided that it was time for Stan to finally answer a call to ministry that had been on his heart since high school.
Pastor Stan graduated from Fuller Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity degree in June 2005 and was immediately appointed to serve the Willapa United Methodist Church. During his time in seminary, Pastor Stan served as student pastor at the Browns Point United Methodist Church in Tacoma, Washington, and as interim pastor during the summer transfer season at the Sunrise United Methodist Church in Federal Way, Washington, and the Elma United Methodist Church in Elma, Washington. He enjoys reading, walking, and golfing in his “spare” time.
